Cyst Removal

Cyst Removal

Cysts are often caused by an acne lesion or ingrown hair but can also begin from oil and skin build-up. Cysts are quite simply a ball of dead skin cells that are contained in a sack lined with normal skin. The longer you leave a cyst, more dead skin cells get trapped in the cyst which causes it to grow. Unfortunately Cysts don’t go away on their own. This is why cyst removal is crucial. If untreated, a cyst will eventually rupture and likely return. This is because when a cyst ruptures, the cyst cavity is now empty and is capable of recovering and starting again. When a cyst ruptures the skin cells disperse and break up beneath the skin. This causes inflammation and pain which can last a long time because the body has to break down and remove the cells that don’t belong under the skin. Cysts that have ruptured and recovered multiple times can be difficult to treat because the area turns into a mix or scar tissue and other small cysts that have broken off and formed. This is just another reason why cysts should be dealt with immediately. If you have a Cyst we suggest scheduling a complimentary consultation with Board Certified Dermatologist Dr. Sonia Badreshia-Bansal.
